Multi-Protocol Mobile Network Solutions

CTIA WIRELESS 2010 - Booth #1706

Tecore is proud to showcase its iCore all-IP software-defined core network - capable of supporting 2G GSM and CDMA, 3G UMTS and 4G LTE on a range of scalable hardware platforms - at CTIA WIRELESS 2010 in Las Vegas, Booth #1706 from March 23 - 25. With iCore, mobile operators will have the flexibility of running multiple standards on a single network, allowing them to maximize revenues from legacy services while rolling out next-generation applications. Tecore's portfolio of Core and Radio Access Network products are RUS-certified and ready to support U.S. Broadband Stimulus applications.

iCore®: 3G UMSC, HSS and RNC

iCore® - the all-IP software-defined multi-technology core network - has added a 3G Radio Network Controller (RNC). Together with the iCore UMSC and HSS, the RNC enhances support for 3G services and further streamlines the smallest multi-technology network-in-a-box in the industry. This carrier-grade architecture can be delivered on a range of hardware platforms, from ATCA to a complete core on a single blade. Rural and emerging mobile network operators can optimize total cost of ownership by avoiding the expense of separate RNCs, and supporting multi-vendor radio access networks from one core network. By leveraging a compliant solution through scalable software elements, the physical size, price point and system capacity can be scaled to match the requirements of the network. Operators can utilize Tier-1 3G NodeBs with iCore for their RNC and core network elements.

4G LTE Evolved Packet Core

The iCore allows operators to leverage the benefit of IP connectivity in their network, preparing the infrastructure for future LTE evolution. The network components required to upgrade iCore to become an LTE Evolved Packet Core (EPC) are software modules, allowing the transition of the network to 4G without forklift upgrades.

The Mobility Management Entity (MME) and System Architecture Evolution (SAE) Gateway components added to the iCore platform provide the interface and functionality support for LTE access. iCore IMS components facilitate applications across the network infrastructure. The iCore EPC includes compliant interfaces for connectivity with standard eNodeBs and interoperability with other vendors' core network equipment as defined in Release 8 of the specifications, enabling operators to use Tier-1 4G eNodeBs.

Tecore is currently conducting interoperability testing with eNodeB vendors. Interested vendors should contact Tecore.

Rapid Deployment System - Complete Network Operations in Minutes

Tecore's Rapid Deployment System (RDS) is a complete mobile network, including a comprehensive, all-IP core and RAN, supporting 2G and 3G in a transportable case. Operators can deploy it to augment network capacity in overflow situations, and government agencies can utilize it to ensure communications continuity during emergencies.

Key benefits:

  • Completely standards-based, allowing use of existing subscriber devices from major commercial operators
  • Seamless connectivity and roaming with existing networks
  • Supports high-speed wireless data
  • Can be enhanced with secure calling, call prioritization, push-to-talk and LMR connectivity
  • Operates in standalone, centralized or mesh modes
  • Transportable and deployable in under an hour.

"Rural Development Accepted" and Ready for Deployment

Tecore’s core network, radio access network and turnkey infrastructure products have received USDA Rural Development Acceptance and “Buy American” status, have been deployed for over a decade in rural, new license and remote networks around the globe, and have evolved to 3G and 4G mobile broadband standards. These products are ready to support U.S. Broadband Stimulus applications which are currently being accepted by RUS and NTIA.

Tecore offers the iCore®, an all-IP software-defined core network designed to bring the capabilities of Tier 1 mobile networks to smaller operators. Supporting the GSM and CDMA technology families through 2G and 3G, with an upgrade path via software plug-ins to 4G LTE, iCore offers:

  • the reliability of a widely deployed platform
  • the upward and downward scalability critical to rural and remote markets; and
  • the advanced broadband service required by RUS and NTIA.

iCore also enables multi-technology roaming to maximize revenue from visiting subscribers, and provides concurrent support for 2G voice services as part of a comprehensive communications service offering.
