iCore® Network

Multi-Technology, All-In-One Core Network

Overview

Tecore’s multi-technology iCore® is a mobile core network platform which delivers one or multiple core network subsystems for LTE, HSPA+ and GSM, enabling support for the most widely deployed mobile technologies in a broad range of applications and deployment scenarios. The common set of object code implements support for all protocols from a single converged platform. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has granted Tecore two patents for its multiprotocol mobile switching platform (US Patents Nos. 6,912,230 & 7,733,901).

Utilizing a carrier-grade, high-availability Linux platform, the next-generation iCore provides a solution for million-subscriber markets as well as distributed scalability across any size market. With integrated media gateway capabilities and a choice of stand-alone or distributed architectures, the system offers an efficient path to convergent wireless technologies and a competitive technology roadmap for tomorrow’s markets.

The Rise of 5G

5G is the next evolution in cellular technology and global telecommunications standards. At Tecore Networks, we understand the significance and the opportunity that 5G represents. With greater speed for moving more data, lower latency for greater responsiveness and the added ability to connect to a multitude of different devices at once, 5G may fundamentally change the way we live, work and communicate. While the standard itself is still being developed, Tecore is well underway implementing new functionality and features into iCore and across our product lines.

The Evolution of 4G LTE

Long Term Evolution (LTE) is the fourth generation of wireless technology, enabling faster and richer applications while streamlining the network infrastructure over IP. In concert with the global rollout and growth of 4G LTE, Tecore has incorporated the key technology elements and additions to our existing core network architecture. For existing Tecore customers, LTE is a mere software upgrade away.

The Legacy of 2G and 3G

It seems hard to believe, but 4G mobile networks have now been around for nearly a decade. However, many coverage areas are still relying on 3G networks for voice and data communications for their customers’ mobile devices. The 3G standard, although it still serves as a fallback for some cellular providers – has largely been superseded by the 4G standard by operators who can afford to invest in another generation of technology, which will soon be eclipsed by 5G services. To leverage existing investments and increase communication effectiveness, Tecore products support legacy generations of technology to ensure compatibility and ease of transition through the lifespan of your network.
