Trusted and Secure Communications

Overview

Tecore provides reliable, trusted, and secure communications for controlled enterprises and essential private networks. Government customers rely on commercial wireless technology as a component of their communications infrastructure. However, today’s commercial environment presents unknown security risks for high-value communications including cyber-attacks, hacking, and spoofing of communications. To combat these security vulnerabilities, Tecore delivers proven countermeasures and technology solutions that implement the security mechanisms necessary to meet and exceed the needs to operate safely in the government environment.

The iCore®

The software-defined all-IP core network that has been proven in deployments around the world. The key to the iCore’s success is a scalable software architecture that maintains industry compliance delivering the feature set and functionality of much larger commercial systems. The effectiveness of the architecture and design has allowed the product to maintain commercial relevance in the wireless infrastructure space for almost 30 years. Additionally, the iCore Core Network is Access Network agnostic having already integrated with over forty base stations and access nodes, including multiple tier one vendor’s access equipment supporting 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G architectures.

Secure Facilities - Globally

Secured communications is a key element of government and controlled facilities’ security enclave. With the ubiquitous deployment of wireless coverage into nearly every location, the need to control access within secured facilities is a critical requirement.  The challenge for government organizations is to provide support for wireless access while protecting the sensitivity and security of data-controlled spaces. Detecting, monitoring, and managing the communications from both authorized and unauthorized devices is a must to further protect the security and assets of the facility.  With a focus on providing commercially proven cellular technology tailored for government facilities’ needs, Tecore is uniquely positioned to deliver targeted solutions for these distinct requirements.

Tecore’s patented Intelligent Network Access Controller (iNACTM) technology provides the ability to manage service access of known and unknown subscribers. iNAC is able to modernize secure facilities’ connectivity, while protecting sensitive information. With an array of standard support for other types of devices, – such as laptops, tablets and wearables, Tecore’s solutions can deliver an array of additional capabilities.

To leverage existing investments and increase communication effectiveness, Tecore products support the integration of existing user devices. With Tecore’s iCore® system, this “Trusted” Bring Your Own Network (BYON)TM capability delivers 3G or 4G LTE services as part of the deployed Communications Security (COMSEC) infrastructure.  Existing device inventory can leverage the iCore network, supporting users’ continued operations with their current device(s) and the added flexibility of 3G/4G LTE access. This secure and managed capability creates interoperability across technologies and ensures users access to the bandwidth necessary.

Test Range and Laboratory Solutions

Tecore systems can create the environment required by Research and Development (R&D) efforts for the testing and validation of wireless capabilities. By leveraging the proven performance of the iCore® platform in a private network setting, R&D efforts can be performed in a controlled environment. From test ranges to laboratories, and from secured facilities to the battlefield, Tecore can support the feature sets and operational capabilities required by government and military customers around the world.

One of the biggest challenges facing R&D facilities is creating a proper environment for testing new applications and capabilities. With the iCore system, users have the flexibility to create a variety of test range simulations of commercial wireless technology to properly examine their application. To minimize the complexity of wireless configurations, the iCore solution is delivered on a common platform across applications and maintains a consistent management interface. This approach simplifies network management and modification by providing a familiar approach for R&D personnel across technology generations. This standardized connectivity allows for the operation of Tecore solutions in tandem with other systems as part of an overall test environment.  For applications requiring an isolated test environment, a complete “island” operation configuration can run independent of other infrastructure.

Deployable Tactical Communications

When called to action, the speed of deployment, the reliability of the solution and the flexibility to adjust to the situation are key factors in addressing the needs of both targeted personnel and the general population on the ground. In a wireless environment, a Rapid Deployment System must include these critical components to address critical situations: the ability to adjust to the proper technology – or technologies – from the same platform, the dexterity to deploy rapidly, and a structure built for mobility.

To address the broadest spectrum of situations, a rapidly deployable system must provide flexibility on several key factors. The situations presented can vary in size, scope, and severity, so the ability to nimbly adjust to the circumstances and available resources is necessary. There are three critical items that define the delivered system:

  • Network Operational Mode – This parameter defines the connectivity and core options of the network.
  • RF Technology(s) – This parameter defines the base station technology(s) required.
  • Installation Requirements – This parameter defines the physical embodiment of the delivered system and outlines the constraints that must be met.

Tecore’s Network in a Box® (NIB) family of technologies accommodates the unique requirements needed for reliable, rapidly deployable tactical communications. With support for multiple technologies, installation options and a full suite of application specific features, the NIB solution provides an end-to-end network solution ideal for military applications.

Vehicle Based LTE Communications

The type of installation required as well as the situational environment can determine the size and form factor of the type of LTE Communications compatible for On the Move Networking. The full range of options should be such that the system is compact enough to be carried into a vehicle, mounted to the interior of the vehicle, or  positioned as a man-packable deployment.

As these types of installations tend to be customized in nature, the solution must offer the flexibility for installation in a variety of environments and formats. Vehicle-Based LTE Communications require technologies that enable seamless, secure communications with coalition and non-military elements on the ground. Tecore’s LYNX Network in a BoxTM (NIB) platform provides a low power/low capacity solution for portable scenarios enabling authorized users to communicate securely on a high-speed, private, tactical network infrastructure, while on the go. This new breed of secure wireless networks – optimized for the LTE environment – can be adapted for C4ISR efforts – providing secure and encrypted communications, blue force tracking, and situational awareness for mobile operations.

Addressing mobile environment installations for land, air, and sea, Tecore’s NIB systems can network together, providing mesh communications, and thus expanding the footprint coverage of the system. This interoperability support allows the network to act as a cohesive unit when/if needed, supporting roaming and movement of subscribers from one system to the next and providing the ability to leverage several network nodes. This fast, reliable communications platform and architecture provides key voice, data and encrypted communications that enhance operations’ survival and success.
