mDU
multi-RAT Digital Unit
Overview
Tecore’s mDU (multi-RAT Digital Unit) is a multi-carrier digital baseband signal processing unit for wireless solutions, responsible for processing signals between the core network and the Remote Radio Head (RRH). Designed for high performance and operational flexibility, the single hardware architecture of the mDU can be leveraged by operators, enterprises, neutral host providers across a broad range of applications.
Built with a modular architecture on a virtualized platform, installations are simplified while offering robust spectrum coverage across all cellular technologies in all licensed sub 3GHz bands. As 3GPP standards continue to evolve, the mDU can be upgraded with software updates remotely, meaning users can leverage the same hardware supporting your network for continued future use.

Applications
Smart DAS - sDAS
sDAS (Smart Distributed Antenna System) is the next evolution of DAS, delivering the same excellent coverage and capacity as a traditional DAS, in a more cost-efficient and compact solution for in-building coverage. The mDU allows site owners to replace all carrier and DAS equipment with a single mDU unit, drastically reducing the footprint, power consumption, cooling and maintenance requirements in the head-end room for a DAS solution.

Neutral-Host Networks
At sites where network usage is at capacity, the mDU offers operators the ability to rapidly deploy small cell networks and densify existing wireless coverage. Built on a multi-carrier, multi-RAT single rack platform, the mDU provides the signal to strategically placed neutral-host radios that broadcast high-capacity bandwidth in geographic areas where additional network capacity is needed while minimizing the footprint and cost requirements typically associated with small cell networks.
By eliminating the large pole space and power requirements associated with traditional small cell networks, Tecore’s mDU offers operators and municipalities the ability to supplement their existing networks with a green solution, where traditional systems are economically prohibitive.
